How to Migrate Google Vault File Archives
Migrate permanently deleted files from Google Vault to SharePoint, OneDrive, or Azure Blob Storage.
Vault File Archive Migration Flow
Overview
Cloudiway enables migration of Google Vault file archives—containing permanently deleted items—to SharePoint, OneDrive, or Azure Blob Storage. This preserves important data that may be needed for compliance or recovery purposes.
Important Requirement
What Gets Migrated
The Vault archive contains permanently deleted items from Google Drive. When you migrate:
Included
- • Permanently deleted files
- • File metadata
- • Folder structure (when possible)
- • File versions (if available)
Migration Target
- • Drive content → Primary target
- • Vault archives → Designated folder
Technical Workflow
The migration follows three stages:
Export
The platform exports the permanently deleted items into zip files from Google Vault.
Upload
The zip files are then uploaded directly to the Microsoft data import service, into a secure blob storage maintained by Microsoft.
Transfer
Data moves from Microsoft's blob storage to the final target location (SharePoint, OneDrive, or Azure Blob Storage).
Target Options
Google Vault file archives can be migrated to:
SharePoint
Document libraries
OneDrive
Personal storage
Azure Blob
Archive storage
