The Pre-Processing task will help you to prepare the target recipient before you start your migration.
After you run the “Get Groups” action, you will be able to update your groups on the list. Once it’s done, you can launch the Pre-Processing. This task will perform two main actions in your Office 365 target:
- Create the target recipient (Shared Mailbox or Unified Group)
- Migrate the membership (owner(s) and member(s))
If you choose a Shared Mailbox as a target recipient, the Pre-Processing will do the following actions:
- Create the Shared MailBox: it will use the name you have defined in the field Target name as name and alias for the Shared Mailbox. The Email will build by using the alias and the domain name of your target connector.
- Create a mail-enabled security group (name and email will be the same as the Shared Mailbox, but prefixed by “DL_”)
- Read the membership of the source group
- Add membership to the security group
- Give “Full Access” right to the security group on the Shared Mailbox
If you choose a Unified Group as a target recipient, the Pre-Processing will do the following actions:
- Create the Unified Group: it will use the name you have defined in the field Target name as name and alias for the Shared Mailbox. The Email will build by using the alias and the domain name of your target connector.
- Read the membership of the source group
- Add membership to the Unified Group
The Pre-Processing can terminate in two status:
- ERROR-PreProcessing: The task encounters an issue. Review the logs for this group:
- NOT STARTED: The task is successful. You can start the migration for this group.
