Check Event Creation Date in Outlook

View when calendar events were created to understand migration eligibility.

Overview

By default, Outlook doesn't display when calendar events were created. However, you can add a "Created" column to see this information. This is particularly useful when troubleshooting why certain events weren't migrated.

Why This Matters

Events older than 3 years are typically not migrated for performance reasons. Checking the creation date helps you understand if an event falls outside the migration window.

Steps to Check Creation Date

1

Open Outlook Calendar

Launch your Outlook application and navigate to Folders, then select Calendar.

2

Switch to List View

Access the View menu from the ribbon and switch to List view. This shows your calendar events in a table format.

3

Open View Settings

In the View menu, click View Settings to open the customization dialog.

4

Add the Created Column

Click Columns... to open the column selector. Find and add the Created column to your view.

5

Confirm Changes

Click OK to save your changes. The Created column will now appear in your calendar list view, showing when each event was created.

Migration Age Limit

3-Year Limit on Calendar Events

For performance reasons, calendar events older than 3 years are not migrated. This applies to events where the creation date is more than 3 years before the migration date.

What This Means

  • • Events created more than 3 years ago will be excluded
  • • This is a platform limitation, not an error
  • • Users should manually export old events if needed

Export Old Events

If you need to preserve calendar events older than 3 years, export them to an ICS file before migration and import them manually after.
