Root Cause

Microsoft Provisioning Delay

When migrating Google Groups to Office 365 shared mailboxes, Cloudiway automatically creates target shared mailboxes if they don't exist. However, Microsoft occasionally experiences delays in provisioning these shared mailboxes.

What's Happening

The migration process attempts to deliver emails to the target shared mailbox before Microsoft has fully provisioned it. The mailbox exists in the directory, but its folders aren't yet accessible.

Solution

Wait and Retry

The system includes a built-in timeout mechanism to handle provisioning delays. In most cases, simply retrying the migration after waiting resolves the issue.

1

Wait for Provisioning

Allow 15-30 minutes for Microsoft to fully provision the shared mailbox after it was created.

2

Verify Mailbox Exists

Check the Microsoft 365 Admin Center to confirm the shared mailbox appears and is accessible.

3

Retry Migration

Restart the migration for the affected group. The shared mailbox should now be fully available.

Pre-Create Mailboxes

To avoid this issue entirely, create your target shared mailboxes in Office 365 before starting the migration. Give them at least an hour to fully provision before beginning the migration process.
