Zimbra Migration Guide

Complete requirements and considerations for migrating from Zimbra to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.

Overview

Cloudiway's Zimbra migration solution is a SaaS platform that connects directly to your Zimbra server. The migration requires the Zimbra server to be accessible from the internet to enable secure data transfer.

SaaS Architecture

As a cloud-based service, Cloudiway doesn't require any on-premises installation. All migration processing occurs securely in the cloud.

Migration Modes

Cloudiway supports two migration approaches depending on your Zimbra environment:

Admin Account Mode

Recommended for on-premises Zimbra or hosted environments where you have full administrative access.

  • Single delegated admin account
  • Access to all mailboxes
  • Centralized migration control

Self-Service Mode

For hosted Zimbra services where the provider cannot grant full admin access.

  • Users enter own credentials
  • Per-user authentication
  • Flexible for hosted environments

Network Requirements

Ensure the following ports are open for communication with Cloudiway's migration platform:

Purpose Port Protocol
Email Migration (IMAP) 143 Standard IMAP
Email Migration (IMAP SSL) 993 IMAP over SSL
Zimbra Admin Platform 7071 Admin HTTPS
Zimbra Web Services 443 HTTPS/SSL

Firewall Configuration
