Overview

When migrating Google Chats using a custom Google account, you must configure the Google Chat API in your Google Cloud Project. This configuration is required during the get-list migration process and enables Cloudiway to access and migrate chat data.

When Is This Required?

This configuration is only needed when using a custom Google account for migration. Standard Google Workspace migrations use pre-configured settings.

Prerequisites

  • Google Cloud Project with billing enabled
  • Administrator access to the Google Cloud Console
  • Google Chat API enabled in your project
  • Custom Google account with appropriate permissions

Configuration Steps

1

Access Google Cloud Console

Navigate to the Google Cloud Console and select your project. Go to APIs & ServicesEnabled APIs.

2

Enable Google Chat API

Search for "Google Chat API" in the API library and enable it for your project if not already enabled.

3

Configure Chat API Settings

Click on Configuration for the Chat API and fill in the required settings detailed below.

4

Save Configuration

Review all settings and click Save to apply the configuration.

Required Settings

Avatar URL

Use the default Google Chat avatar:

https://developers.google.com/chat/images/quickstart-app-avatar.png

Interactive Features

  • Enable interactive features by default
  • Functionality checkboxes are optional (based on end-user availability needs)

Connection Settings

App URL Any valid URL (e.g., https://example.com)
Authentication Audience Project Number

Logging (Optional)

Check the box "Log errors to Logging" to enable debugging. This is helpful for troubleshooting migration issues.

Verification

After completing the configuration:

  1. Return to the Cloudiway platform
  2. Configure your Google connector with the custom account
  3. Run a test Get List job to verify the API connection
  4. Check for any authentication errors in the job logs
