How to Migrate Files From or To a Specific Folder
Configure selective folder migration for precise data transfers.
Selective Folder Migration
Overview
The Cloudiway migration platform allows you to specify source and target folders when migrating data between Google Drive and Office 365. This enables selective data transfers, allowing you to migrate only specific folders rather than entire drives.
Use Cases
- → Migrate only specific project folders
- → Consolidate data from multiple sources to one location
- → Reorganize folder structure during migration
Google Drive Configuration
Source Configuration
To migrate from a specific Google Drive folder, specify the folder ID in the "Source Folder (Optional)" field.
How to Find Folder ID
- Open the folder in Google Drive
- Look at the URL in your browser
- The folder ID is the long string after
/folders/
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AbCdEfGhIjKlMnOpQrStUvWxYz
Target Configuration
For destination folders in Google Drive, enter the folder name in the "Target Folder (Optional)" field.
Nested Folder Syntax
Use forward-slash notation for hierarchical structures:
foldername/subfolder/subfolder Office 365 Configuration
Source Setup
Office 365 migrations require specifying the complete folder path in the source field.
Path Examples
| /Documents | Root Documents folder |
| /Documents/Projects | Projects subfolder |
| /Documents/Projects/2024 | Nested subfolder |
Target Setup
Similarly, specify the target folder path for Office 365 destinations. Sub-folder migrations follow the same path convention.
Auto-Creation
Target folders that don't exist will be created automatically during migration.
Important Considerations
Parent Directory Requirement
When specifying nested target paths, parent directories must already exist. The system only auto-creates the final folder in the path.
Example:
To migrate to /Folder_1/Folder_2/SpecificFolder,
both Folder_1 and
Folder_2 must pre-exist.
Configuration Summary
| Platform | Source | Target |
|---|---|---|
| Google Drive | Folder ID | Folder Name/Path |
| Office 365 | Full Folder Path | Full Folder Path |
