Getting Started

Lotus Notes Connector Configuration

Configure the Lotus Notes Connector to migrate mail from IBM Domino to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.

Overview

The Lotus Notes Connector enables migration of email, calendar, contacts, and other mailbox data from IBM Lotus Notes/Domino to cloud platforms like Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.

Source

IBM Lotus Notes / Domino

Target

Microsoft 365
Google Workspace

How It Works

The Lotus Notes migration uses an on-premises agent that communicates securely with the Cloudiway platform.

Architecture Overview

Domino Server

On-Prem Agent

Cloudiway

Target Cloud

Security Note

The Cloudiway platform never initiates connections to your local environment. The on-premises agent periodically checks for pending tasks, ensuring your network security policies are maintained.

Job Types

Pull Jobs

Extract user and group lists from the local directory and upload to the Cloudiway platform.

Push Jobs

Retrieve pending changes from the platform and apply them locally (mailbox data extraction).

Connector Setup

Step 1: Create the Connector

  1. 1 Log into the Cloudiway portal
  2. 2 Navigate to Connectors in the left menu
  3. 3 Click NEW to create a new connector
  4. 4 Select LotusNotes under the Mail Product section

Step 2: Configure Settings

Server Name

Enter your Domino server name. This field is case-insensitive.

Example: domino01/acme

Step 3: Complete Setup

  1. 1 Click NEXT to proceed
  2. 2 Review your settings
  3. 3 Click COMPLETE to finalize the connector

Agent Installation

After creating the connector, install the on-premises agent on a workstation with access to the Domino server.

Prerequisites

  • Windows workstation
  • Lotus Notes client version 8.0 or higher
  • Network access to Domino server
  • Internet access to Cloudiway servers

Installation Steps

  1. 1 Download the agent installer and configuration file from the Cloudiway portal
  2. 2 Extract the files to a local directory
  3. 3 Install LotusNotesAgent.exe on the workstation
  4. 4 Verify the configuration file contains the correct settings

Configuration File Settings

Setting Value
AliasDns https://newapi.cloudiway.com
Name Your connector name
Token Personal access token (see below)

Authentication Setup

The agent requires a Personal Access Token to authenticate with the Cloudiway platform.

Generate Personal Access Token

  1. 1 Log into the Cloudiway portal
  2. 2 Navigate to Account NameAPIs
  3. 3 Generate a new Personal Access Token
  4. 4 Enable the Lotus Notes permission for the token
  5. 5 Copy the token value into the agent configuration file

Notes Client Setup

  1. 1 Open the Lotus Notes client with an ID that has full mailbox access
  2. 2 Close the Notes client

The agent uses the last logged-in Notes identity to connect to Domino.

Access Requirements

The Notes ID used must have full access to all mailboxes being migrated. Typically, this is an administrator ID with ACL rights to all mail databases.
