Cause 1: File Migration Issue

Missing OneDrive Permissions

The migration account lacks permissions to access the user's OneDrive. This commonly occurs when the OneDrive hasn't been provisioned or when permissions haven't been configured for the migration account.

Solution for File Migration

Run the preprocessing task from the user list. This automatically:

  • • Provisions the OneDrive profile if not already created
  • • Sets necessary permissions for the migration account
  • • Validates access before starting migration

Cause 2: Sites Migration Issue

Missing Site Collection Admin Rights

The SharePoint connector's migration account doesn't have sufficient permissions for the target SharePoint site. The account needs to be a Site Collection Administrator.

Solution for Sites Migration

  1. 1. Go to SharePoint Admin Center or the target site
  2. 2. Navigate to Site Settings → Site Collection Administrators
  3. 3. Add your migration account as a Site Collection Administrator
  4. 4. Wait for changes to propagate (may take a few minutes)
  5. 5. Restart the migration

Step-by-Step Solutions

For OneDrive File Migration

1

Go to User List

Navigate to your migration project's user list in Cloudiway.

2

Run Preprocessing

Select affected users and run the preprocessing task.

3

Restart Migration

After preprocessing completes, restart the file migration.

For SharePoint Sites Migration

1

Access Site Settings

Go to the target SharePoint site → Settings gear → Site permissions.

2

Add Migration Account

Click Advanced permissions → Site Collection Administrators → Add your migration account.

3

Wait and Retry

Allow changes to propagate, then restart the sites migration.

Bulk Permission Assignment

For multiple sites, use PowerShell or the SharePoint Admin Center to add the migration account as Site Collection Administrator across all target sites at once.
