Problems Identified

Cloudiway migration may encounter two related issues:

Permission Migration Failures

One or more permissions don't transfer to the target during file or folder migration.

Group Membership Failures

Members aren't added during group or site migration pre-processing.

Root Causes

Migration Process Sequence

  1. 1

    Extract Source Permissions

Member or ACL email addresses are extracted from source files/groups.

  2. 2

    Look Up Mapping Table

Source emails are converted to target emails using Cloudiway's mapping table.

  3. !

    Mapping Entry Missing

If mapping entries are missing, conversion fails and migration stops for that permission.

  4. !

    Target User/Group Missing

Target users/groups must already exist; if absent, the operation fails.

Key Limitations

⚠️ Delta Pass Limitation

Important: A delta pass will not remigrate a missing permission. If the file is migrated, the delta pass will not detect any changes and will not remigrate the file.

Impact

  • Permissions transfer simultaneously with files
  • Complete drive remigration is necessary to recover missing permissions
  • Additional license may be required for full remigration

Troubleshooting Steps

Before Contacting Support, Verify:

Pre-processing Completed

For team/group migrations, ensure pre-processing ran successfully.

Mapping Table Entries Exist

Check that all source emails have corresponding target entries in the mapping table.

Target Users/Groups Provisioned

Verify target users and groups exist in Office 365.

Information for Support

If you need to contact support, provide (as plain text):

  • Source email address (group or file path)
  • Missing member/permission email
  • Mapping table screenshot showing the entry
  • Office 365 admin portal confirmation of target user/group existence

Prevention

Always verify your mapping table is complete and all target users are provisioned before starting file migrations. This prevents permission loss that would require full remigration.
